Making Your Own Muscadine Grape Jelly

Fabulous Muscadine Jelly At Home – As Tasty As Ours, But We’ll Never Admit It

Muscadine jelly is a marvelously delicious, sweet topping that’s makes a perfect snack when spread on toast, rolls, muffins, and other treats.  If you haven’t tried it, you’ll be glad of taking the opportunity.

Far be it from Emerald Coast Wine Cellars to send you off on your own adventure to make delicious Muscadine Jelly – indeed, we’d much rather you leave it to the true professionals and then have you come into the Miramar Beach store and get it from us – but never let it be said that we’re not generous.

In that giving spirit (and considering the Holiday Season is upon us), here’s a yummy recipe that you’ll thank us for:


You’ll Need:

  • 4 cups grape juice stock
  • 7cups sugar
  • 1/2 bottle liquid pectin

Fully ripened fruit may be used for jelly made with commercial pectin.   Measure juice into kettle.   Stir in sugar.

Place on high heat and stirring constantly, bring quickly to full rolling boil that can not be stirred down.

Add pectin and heat again to a full rolling boil. Boil hard for one minute.

Remove from heat; skim off foam quickly.

Pour at once into hot sterile glasses and seal.  (Note: Add 1/3 more sugar when using wild grapes.)
